Depending on financial circumstances individuals may be required to pay the full costs of care or to only contribute to the costs of care. To determine this, the local authority social services will assess the care needs and finances and will provide an independent assessment of needs. They will also assist individuals to find a suitable care provider. Any contributions are usually paid direct to social services.
For residents assessed as requiring nursing needs, the local NHS will pay for the nursing intervention that is required, this is a set fee and will be paid directly to the provider.
Where on-going specialist treatment is required, they may be eligible for "Continuing Care" and the NHS will pay the full fees. In these circumstances the fees will be paid directly to the care provider.
The cost of care will vary depending on the needs of the individual and the chosen accommodation. Once we have carried out an assessment of needs we will calculate the required fee and provide an explanation of how this was determined.
